Roaster Andrew's Iced Coffee

Coffee: 50g

Grind: Medium

Water: 400g at 205°F

Ice: 400g

Directions:

  1. Get your Chemex on your scale.
  2. Measure 400g ice into your Chemex.
  3. Tare.
  4. Add 50g of ground coffee.
  5. Tare.
  6. Add 100 g of water. Pour all water in concentric circles focusing on the center and wetting the entirety of the bed.
  7. Let coffee bloom for 1min.
  8. Add 100g of water. Pour slowly and in concentric circles.
  9. Let the water level drop without letting the bed completely empty.
  10. Add 100g of water. Pour slowly in concentric circles.
  11. Let the water level drop without letting the bed completely empty.
  12. Add 50g of focusing on the sidewall of the bed. Try to get all that coffee back down into the bed.
  13. Let the water level drop without letting the bed completely empty.
  14. Add the last 50g of water. Slowly. The total brew time should be between around 3:30. If it is faster, pour more slowly or fine up your grind. If it is slower, increase pouring speed or coarsen your grind.
  15. Swirl, pour over a glass with ice.
  16. Bam, fresh iced coffee.

Note: Expect sweetness, more delicacy, and a tea-like body.
